Babe Kentucky Bluegrass
Babe Kentucky bluegrass has some properties similar to popular varieties like Shamrock, Brooklawn, and Midnight Kentucky bluegrass. It has an improved darker green color, even under reduced fertility. Babe exhibited early spring green-up characteristics in trials at Rutgers University. It has consistently ranked at the top among other bluegrasses in leaf spot and stem/crown rust disease resistance in the NTEP trials. Babe was also entered into the National Cool-Season water use drought tolerance test and scored high on color retention and ability to survive in the rainout shelters at all 5 locations.
Babe Kentucky bluegrass has performed well against the fungal diseases: dollar spot and summer patch. Babe Kentucky bluegrass can be used as a component in your turfgrass mixes to offer an excellent and versatile choice for great looking turf. It also ranked at the top among bluegrasses in traffic tolerance, which is a useful feature for golf and sports turf applications.
